Mark Wagner (Binienda Center for Civic Engagement) recently had the opportunity to highlight the Binienda Center for Civic Engagement’s new Civic Scholar Initiative in the NASPA’s Research and Policy Institute blog. The initiative aims to increase the number of Worcester State classes that include a service-learning component.

The center collaborated with the Center for Teaching and Learning to provide a $1,000 stipend to faculty (one from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and one from the School of Education, Health, and Natural Sciences) to develop modules within established classes that involve community-based or service projects.

The center is one of 74 members that comprise NASPA’s Lead Initiative on Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement.
